Dealing With Your Emotions Confronting How You Feel

Emotions are a vital part of our everyday lives. Whether you’re having a good laugh over a text message or feeling frustrated, you know that the highs and lows you experience can significantly affect your well-being. We think that by denying these feelings they will eventually go away.

Or maybe distracting ourselves, keeping busy and telling ourselves that we have more important things to do will alleviate this feeling.

The truth is, holding in emotions, especially negative ones, only makes things worse, they can actually hurt you. We probably think of jealousy as a single emotion, it’s actually a mixture of different feelings: fear of loss, a sense of inadequacy, hurt, sadness, pain, anxiety, self-doubt, anger and, sometimes, outright rage.

Everything is made up of energy, even our emotions. When you are stressed out, you have a lot of negative energy within you. If you don’t let it out, it will start to build up inside of your body and mind.

if you don’t release it on your own, it will release itself in other ways, through a form of anger, frustration, and outright rage. Anger can arise when we feel exhausted, not listened to, made fun of etc. However, anger can become a major problem if it is expressed in extreme ways e.g. physical violence, verbal abuse, tantrums (even in adults), swearing and abusing others.

All these expressions of anger can give us feelings of release in the short term, but when we cool down we can become ashamed, guilty, angry with ourselves and lowered self-esteem can result - and sadly, there is often an estranged, hurt or demeaned partner or child who has had to bear the brunt of our anger.

Hypnotherapy is an effective aid in the process of emotions. We use CTB with the integration of hypnotherapy, which is more effective than using CBT alone. The self-awareness that CBT offers renders it a highly successful way to modify behaviour.
